Rajarshi Shahu Maharaj Polytechnic Wins First Prize in State-Level Science One-Act Play Competition
‘Solar Storm and Us’ Selected for the Final Round to be Held in Mumbai
The science one-act play “Solar Storm and Us”, presented by the students of Maratha Vidya Prasarak Samaj’s Rajarshi Shahu Maharaj Polytechnic, Nashik, secured First Prize in the State-Level Science One-Act Play Competition 2026 organized by the Marathi Vidnyan Parishad. With this remarkable achievement, the play has been selected for the next final round to be held in Mumbai.
The state-level competition was organized with the objective of developing a scientific temperament, creativity, and interest in science and technology among students through innovative presentations on various scientific and technological themes. In the Nashik Educational (City) and Open Category, the students of Rajarshi Shahu Maharaj Polytechnic presented “Solar Storm and Us” with an impressive and engaging performance.
The play was written by Rajiv Joshi and directed by Yuga Milind Kulkarni. The stage setup was handled by Nachiket Mahesh Mule, lighting by Sanket Laxman Sonawane, background music by Soha Milind Kulkarni, and makeup and costumes by Gargi Dinesh Vaidya. The production was presented by Maratha Vidya Prasarak Samaj, Rajarshi Shahu Maharaj Polytechnic, Nashik.
Impressive Marathi Performance by English-Medium Students
A special highlight of this achievement is that all the students participating in “Solar Storm and Us” are from an English-medium background. Despite this, the students demonstrated excellent command of the Marathi language and delivered the dialogues with confidence, along with strong acting, expressions, and stage presence. Their impressive performance of a Marathi science one-act play at the state-level platform has received widespread appreciation.
The play featured Atharva Malwatkar, Gargi Ranalekar, Samarth Jadhav, Avani Bhawar, Sarvesh Pingle, Karan Tayde, and Sanskriti Pawar. Srushti Patil, Shlok Gavhane, and Sarthak Khemnar contributed as volunteers.
The students received valuable guidance from Principal Prof. Prashant Patil, Prof. T. K. Thange, and Prof. P. V. Patil.
The outstanding achievement of the students was appreciated by Adv. Nitinji Thakare, General Secretary, Maratha Vidya Prasarak Samaj; Hon. Balasaheb Kshirsagar, Chairman; Dr. Sunilji Dhikle, President; Hon. Vishwas More, Vice-President; Devaram Mogal, Vice-Chairman; Dilip Dalvi, Secretary; all members of the Board of Directors; and Education Officer Dr. D. D. Lokhande.
The institution expressed confidence that the play will continue its impressive performance in the final round at Mumbai and bring further recognition and pride to the institution.
