Research: Useful Project by Students in the Era of Industry 4.0 and Smart Factories
Students Created a Safety Dashboard for Worker Safety

In the industrial sector, industrial accidents are increasing due to gas leaks, smoke, irregular temperature fluctuations, emissions of various harmful gases, and short circuits. Ensuring worker safety has become a major challenge for the industry. Modern and smart technology is essential to guarantee worker safety.
In this context, students of Rajarshi Shahu Maharaj Polytechnic developed an advanced and useful project named “Industrial Safety Compliance Dashboard Using IoT”. Third-year students—Ms. Mokshada Vijay Patil, Sara Prakash Patil, Neha Sharad Pawar, and Anushka Digambar Pawar—brought this project to fruition under the guidance of Principal Prashant Patil, Head of Department P.D. Boraste, and Guide Prof. G.N. Handge. Adv. Nitin Thakare, General Secretary of MVP Society, praised all the students for this research.
System Works with the Help of MQ Series Gas Sensors
This smart safety system incorporates Arduino Uno, MQ-series gas sensors, a GPS module, an LCD display, and an IoT cloud dashboard. The MQ-2, 7, 8, and MQ-135 sensors continuously monitor various flammable, toxic, and harmful gases. If gas levels reach dangerous limits, the system immediately issues an alert, helping prevent potential accidents. In the event of a gas leak or other emergency, the GPS module sends precise information to the server, enabling safety personnel to reach the site quickly and take necessary action.
Real-Time Monitoring and Alerts
This project identifies potential hazards through real-time monitoring of safety compliance violations across industrial premises, playing a crucial role in protecting workers. In the era of Industry 4.0 and smart factories, this project has emerged as an effective technological solution for industrial safety.
Smart Monitoring of Industrial Premises Possible
Information about events occurring in this research is displayed directly on the LCD screen via sensors, allowing immediate assessment of emergency or critical situations for employees. On the cloud dashboard, real-time gas levels, safety compliance records, and location-based alerts can be easily viewed, making centralized and smart monitoring across the entire industrial facility possible.
